The moment you feel that the cars you possess are required some repairs and also some serious problems to get corrected; there are some systematic ways to get the repairing job done. Most people are in the mood to visit the nearest car repairing shop or the well known service centers. But it is not as easy as we think.
The cars are operated by some specific computer codes and the software which are solely with the dealer of the cars. So, if the major parts of the cars are to be repaired, the service centers and the workshops are unable to make the parts repaired due to lack of those codes.
In such cases, the only ways to repair the cars is to visit the service station of the main dealer and to get through the cars with them. It’s very irritating and panic as the service station might have situated at very long distance. Even if we see the ratio, there are 225 million vehicles in the U.S. and only 21,640 car dealerships.
Now, if we see the repairing business holders, then there are 132,000 businesses and people who find their earnings by repairing the cars.
Now, if we see it logically, we will find that the132,000 car repairing business repairers are waste if the 21,640 car dealers do not provide the car codes to them It’s really stunning fact that the differences of the laws are much painful. It’s just like the monopoly business for the car dealers as if they are not willing to pass the car codes, not only the repairing businesses are suffered but also the people who are packed jam with their busy schedules are also suffered from their tight schedule and inconveniency to drive all the way to the service stations.
Strangely, the people have not raised their voice for such unmeaning systems. Some members of Congress understood the seriousness of this problem, and are desperate to pass the Motor Vehicle Owners Right to Repair Act. The Act contains some of the columns which ask the dealers to share some of the information and tools with independent repair shops that they provide car dealers, while protecting the car companies' trade secrets.
If the thought of only being able to take your car to a dealership causes concern, you may want to discuss this proposed legislation with your elected officials.
Lobbyists for large car companies and new car dealers have their own voice against the bill as the bill would affect the business of theirs. Last year, the act had 100 Congressional supporters, but Congress did not pass the bill before it adjourned.
"If the driving public does not speak up, they may lose the right to choose where to have their vehicles serviced and repaired," said Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association.
